The SAWMPO Policy Board approved the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) on December 17, 2025, at the Board meeting. Staff began the 2050 LRTP update in March 2024 and completed each Scope of Work task. The Policy Board must update and approve long range plans every five years for the region to remain compliant with federal regulations and continue receiving federal transportation construction funding.
The Board approved a 45-day public comment document review period at the October 15 meeting, which concluded on December 4, 2025. The MPO did not receive any public comments. The draft document was available for comment on the SAWMPO website and the SAWMPO 2050 LRTP Social Pinpoint webpage. The 2050 LRTP includes seven chapters (see Table 1). The main outcome of the 2050 LRTP is the Constrained Long Range Plan (CLRP) in Chapter 7, which identifies the prioritized transportation projects recommended to receive state and federal funding over the next 25 years.
