From VDOT, March 2023 – The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program (CFI) on March 14, 2023. The CFI Grant Program covers both Corridor and Community Charging. Applications for these grants must be made directly to FHWA through the www.Grants.gov website by May 30, 2023. Eligible applicants include states, metropolitan planning organizations, localities, and other groups identified in the NOFO. To read the NOFO and review eligible entities and projects, visit the CFI Grant Program page here.
While the CFI Grant Program funding is eligible to use for installing EV charging stations (and other alternative fuels like propane, hydrogen, and natural gas) it is different from the NEVI Formula Program funding allocated to states. If you have questions about NEVI Formula Program funding and VDOT’s development of a competitive grant solicitation expected to be released in late Spring or early Summer 2023, please contact nevi@vdot.virginia.gov. If you have questions about the CFI Grant Program, please contact FHWA at CFIgrants@dot.gov.
Virginia Clean Cities is offering support to any Virginia business or Virginia eligible entity for application to CFI. For more information, please visit the VCC website.
