VDOT’s Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program “develop(s) comprehensive, innovative transportation solutions to relieve congestion bottlenecks and solve critical traffic and safety challenges throughout the Commonwealth.” Based on several intersections and segments in the US-250 in the City of Waynesboro and Augusta County with high Potential Safety Improvement (PSI) scores, VDOT’s Staunton District applied for up to $200,000 to study solutions for the corridor along a .8-mile segment of US 250 in Augusta County (Jefferson Highway) and the City of Waynesboro (W. Main Street). VDOT will partner with the SAWMPO, the City of Waynesboro, and Augusta County on the study.
The Study began in August 2018. STARS studies typically require 9-12 months to complete.
