Afton Mountain Transportation Site Assessment

The FY24 SAWMPO Afton Mountain Transportation Site Assessment evaluated existing vehicular and bicycle and pedestrian conditions at the Inn at Afton Mountain near the I-64 Exit 99 interchange as part of a larger site assessment being conducted by Augusta County. Timmons Group lead the MPO study, which includes includes existing conditions data collection and a site visit, a future development scenario to inform recommendations, and three concept layouts depicting improvements. The main study recommendation is a potential roundabout at the intersection of US 250 and Howardsville Turnpike based on certain future traffic volume thresholds.
