At the September 21, 2022 Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) meeting, the Board discussed the State Trails Office, which will be a matrixed office within VDOT with staff in both the Transportation and Mobility Planning Division and the Local Assistance Division.
The State Trails Office is being established from June 2022 General Assembly budget funding. The budget allows for three staff, and the $800,000 in FY23 funding will be used to perform trail analysis, conduct outreach, and develop a State Trails Plan and State Trails Information Clearinghouse.
