On January 17, 2023, the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment (OIPI) presented SMART SCALE Round 5 scores for transportation projects at the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) meeting. SMART SCALE is Virginia’s primary transportation funding program, which provides 100% funding for transportation projects under a competitive grant program.
For SMART SCALE Round 5, a total of 413 application were submitted statewide, with 152 receiving funding of $1.53 billion. The VDOT Staunton District was awarded 15 different projects (see image below). One of the six projects submitted in the SAW region was funded. The project is a roundabout improvement on Rosser Avenue in Waynesboro.
